Inside-Out Recovery: Let the Healing Begin! Phase 1 Workshop for Strategic Trauma and Abuse Recovery (Download a flyer)

When: June 25-26, 2015

Time: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Daily

Cost: To be paid to

Where: Trauma Education & Consultation Services

1944 Brannan Rd., McDonough, GA 30253

Description: This workshop is a follow-up to STAR Basic training but can also be a starting point for counselors interested in learning this Christian-Integrated  technique. Unlike the Phase 2 workshop which is spiritually integrated, this workshop will be specifically Christian integrated using psychology and theology, combining Christian principles along with psychological research and technique. Participants will learn the content of the Phase 1-Safety and Stabilization class, “Inside-Out Recovery: Let the Healing Begin!”, along with techniques for teaching in individual sessions, using handouts, and presentation in group/class settings using the workbook.  “Inside-Out Recovery: Let the Healing Begin” is a psychoeducational class that can be used in treatment centers, churches, outpatient centers, etc. It can be led by professional counselors or by trained lay-counselors. It can be offered for free, or you can charge a fee. The 8-chapter text can be arranged to fit your needs, whether in individual or group/class settings. You can combine lessons to reduce the number of weeks, or divide lessons to increase the number of weeks. Trainees will, as is common with Trauma Education & Consultation Services, have access to the back-office to access updated and newly added lessons. Right now, this is a free service, though in the future there may be a fee. This class is NOT the same as the “Strategic Trauma and Abuse Recovery: A Source-Focused Model for Healing” and will NOT cover the Phase 2-Reprocessing and Grieving process for group and individual use. However, much of the theory and process will be covered in a way that is designed to present to patients. In other words, I will be teaching the workshop participants the same information and in the same style as you will be teaching your clients.

Goals and Objectives: Through slide presentation, lecture, discussion  and role-play, participants should be able to:

1. Participants will learn to help clients understand the connections between previous trauma and current behavioral health issues.

2. Participants will learn to communicate the information regarding trauma to clients in a motivationally enhanced manner.

3. Participants will leave with a plan for how to implement this psychoeducational class/group in their current practice.

Registration and Payment Information: $75 includes CEUs.  (Lunch on your own.) *There are no refunds for missed workshops or cancellations. However, you will be offered opportunities to attend other workshops within the same 12 month period.* Please see complete listing of Training Policies.
