When: June 24, 2016 Time: 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Cost: Regular, $120 (Includes CEUs) Early Bird: $95 by June 17

Where: Eagle’s Landing Christian Counseling Center

1944 Brannan Rd., McDonough, GA 30253

Description: Trauma-informed care is the standard of care for mental health and addiction clients, according SAMHSA. Crisis managers, such as police officers, fire-fighters, nurses, doctors and even social workers, counselors and pastors all play a unique role in managing the after-math of disasters whether they are natural or man-made. The management of a catastrophe can result in secondary trauma as well as direct, on-the-job traumatic experiences. The impact of trauma is cumulative. It may not be just one horrific incident that leads to PTSD, depression, anxiety or other symptoms. It may be years of responding to or listening to such experiences that leads to “burn-out”, “cop-shock”, “wounded-warrior syndrome” or even suicide. This workshop will address some of the unique needs of crisis managers and present a structured, “source-focused” approach to assisting crisis managers, especially counselors, in recovery from traumatic events and in on-going maintenance.

Goals and Objectives: Through slide presentation, lecture, discussion  and role-play,

1. Participants will identify the primary differences between “crisis manager” job related trauma and other types of trauma.

2. Participants will review the “Trauma Survivor Blueprint©” and be able to articulate the development of a trauma identity for crisis managers.

3. Participants will participate in role-playing the five step process of Strategic Trauma and Abuse Recovery© for crisis managers.

CEUs: 6 core hours have been applied through LPCAGA and NASW-GA . LMFT can count as related.
